Man docked for stealing clips worth N1,500

One Michael Joseph of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, was on Wednesday docked in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing iron clips valued at N1,500.

Joseph, 20, is facing a lone count charge of stealing.‎

The prosecutor, Christopher Okoliko, said that the defendant committed the offence at the company’s office at Orile Iganmu, Lagos at about 4.30 p.m. on September 3.

Mr. Okoliko, a police sergeant, said the security man at the gate of the company found ‎10 pieces of iron clips valued at N150 each in the pocket of the accused after the day’s job.

He noted that the offence contravened the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State 2011.‎

However, the defendant, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge.‎

The Chief Magistrate, M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

She explained that the surety must be a blood relation of the defendant with verified address and evidence of tax payment.

The case was adjourned to September 15 for mention.
