The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has written to express its unflinching solidarity with the Gambian Bar Association and the people of Gambia over the ongoing political situation in the country orchestrated by the refusal of President Yahya Jammeh to accept result of the recently conducted presidential election after initially accepting defeat.
In a letter signed by its President, the NBA also urged Nigerian Judges presently in the Gambia to serve without fear or favour.
This letter is coming on the heels of the alarm raised by the Gambian Bar Association that Ex-President Yahya Jammeh, is attempting to use judicial officers imported from Nigeria to remain in office.
The NBa urged the judiciary in the Gambia and the Nigerian Judges serving in the country not to succumb to the subterranean moves of president Jammeh in trying to use the instrumentality of the judiciary to subvert the democratic process in the country.
