A 53-year-old Adegoke Taofik Sanusi, was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court at Igbosere, for alleged theft of N4 million.
The accused is facing a three-count charge on conspiracy, pretence and stealing preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor, Inspector Haruna Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between January 2010 to January 2015, at 23 Sadatu Street, Oregun Ikeja, Lagos and that the defendant pretended that he wanted to rent a 5-bedroom duplex from one Karimot Sanusi, but stole the N4 million from him.
The prosecutor said the offences are punishable under Section 306, 281 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate O. M. Ajayi granted him bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a blood relation, the sureties must be gainfully employed and their addresses verified.
They are to show evidence of two years tax payment. She adjourned the case to November 14 for mention.
