Oghogho Akpata, Managing Partner, Templars and Mrs. Priscilla Ogwemoh, Managing Partner, Olisa Agbakoba Legal, have won the best Managing Partner and Best Female Managing Partner of the year respectively at the Law Digest Award 2016. The event which was held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos was attended by the creme de la creme of the profession.
Akpata and Mrs. Ogwemoh were among the shortlist for this year’s Law Digest Africa Awards out of over 200 entries for the awards; an increase of over 50% from last year’s entries, making this award the most recognized award for African lawyers. There were also entries from countries such as Egypt, Mozambique, Rwanda and Morocco for the first time.
Other award winners were Ghana’s Kimathi of Kuenyehia Kimathi & Partners who won the Young Managing Partner of the Year 2016.
Bowmans Law firm South Africa clinched the award for the Law Firm of the Year and M&A Team of the Year.
Ajumogobia & Okeke of Nigeria won the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team of the Year .
Templars won the Banking & Finance Team of the Year as well as the Power & Natural Resources Team of the Year.
Capital Market Team of the Year 2016 award was won by The New Practice (TNP) Nigeria.
Advocaat Nigeria emerged as the Emerging Firm of the Year.
Aluko & Oyebode Nigeria won the Property, Infrastructure and Construction Team of the Year
Jackson Etti & Edu Nigeria went with the award for IP & Technology Team of the Year.
Stephenson Harwood LLP & Essex Court Chambers UK won the Africa’s Strategic Partner of the Year 2016 award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Law Recipient 2016 was Chief Wole Olanipekun, OFR, SAN LLD, FCIArb.
