The Upper Area Court judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, ordered the remand of the defendant until Jan. 31 for consideration of his bail.

Linus of Durumi in FCT is standing trial on a four-count charge of criminal force and assault, abduction and causing hurt and theft.

He, however, denied the charges against him.

The prosecutor, Israel Abang, told the court that Idongesit Ukpong of Durumi II, Abuja,  reported the matter at Durumi police station on Jan. 17.

Abang said that the defendant beat up and used sharp object to inflict injury on the complainant’s neck.

The prosecutor added that the defendant also stole the complainant’s Techno mobile phone valued at N9,000.

He explained that Linus abducted Ukpong’s seven-year-old son to unknown destination and that during police investigation, the boy was recovered from him.

Abang said the offences were contrary to sections 265, 246, 287 and 273 of the Penal Code.
