Honourable Justice O. O. Akeredolu has been appointed the new Acting Chief Judge of Ondo State.
In a statement issued by Adeyanju Kola, the information officer, Hon. Justice O.O Akeredolu’s appointment as the Acting Chief Judge of Ondo State takes effect immediately. According to Adeyanju “This, according to the letter of appointment signed by the Governor of Ondo States, is in pursuant of section 271(15)of the 1999 constitution as amended.” “Also according to the letter, the appointment is based on the recommendation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of National Judicial Council.” “Justice Akeredolu was the head of Criminal division in the Ondo State High Court. She will be sworn in on Monday 24th July, 2017.” Adeyanju stated.
Until her appointment Justice Akeredolu was number 2 in the order of seniority of High Court Judges in Ondo State. The constitution prescribed appointment of the most senior judge of the High Court after the expiration of the 3 months tenure of the current acting Chief Judge. She also will be in office for 3 months in acting capacity.
