A milestone is fast approaching for Negotiation and Conflict Management Group NCMG International as it celebrates its 21st anniversary with two events, the NCMG Peace Awards, the first in a series of annual award ceremonies and the ADR Conference with the theme: “59 Years of Litigation in Nigeria: Business Demands and Future of the Courts”. Both events are scheduled to hold on November 1 & 2, 2017 at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.

NCMG Peace Awards will recognize and honor the extraordinary achievements and dedication of exceptional individuals in our society who have played a remarkable role in peace building in Nigeria. These individuals and their organizations continually make exemplary commitment and outstanding contribution to the pursuit of peace, justice building, corporate citizenship, and youth innovation while championing the capacity of humanity to live in harmonious adjustment with one other. By recognizing the remarkable works of vision and courage of the nominees, it is hoped that conversations on the essence of peace, justice, equality and nonviolence will be encouraged, the public will be reminded that a fair, equitable and just world is achievable, c and the people will be inspired to take action. The NCMG Peace Award will be in the following categories;

  • Peace Builder
  • Justice Builder
  • Outstanding Woman of Peace
  • Youth Innovation
  • Corporate Citizen

The Panel of Judges for the Awards is being chaired by Bishop Matthew Kukah. His Excellency, the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, GCON has been invited as the Special Guest of Honor and HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Emir of Kano, as the Keynote Speaker of the day and the NCMG International Global Chairman, Justice Muhammadu L. Uwais, GCON is the chief host of the event.

The Conference is being convened in collaboration with the National Judicial Institute and the International Mediation Institute (IMI) with notable speakers such as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen, GCON, and Michael Leathes, a renowned mediator and a member of the IMI speaking on the theme of the conference. The two days event shall examine fresh approaches to the Criminal Justice System including the threat to courts, the place of lawyers and other service providers in the face of evolving technology and global demands.

NCMG International is a non–governmental organization committed to peace building and access to justice in Africa. The string of achievements of NCMG International over the years includes, the establishment of the Lagos Multi Door Courthouse (the first court connected ADR Centre in Africa), the Supreme Court Mediation Centre and the Court of Appeal Mediation Centre, amongst others. Also, in 2011, NCMG International partnered with the University of Lagos to establish the UNILAG-NCMG College of Negotiation, an institution modeled after the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
