The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) in conjunction with the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) specially invites interested persons to a three-day Workshop on the theme – Oral Advocacy in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is Nigeria’s apex institution for research and advanced studies in law. The Institute is also accredited to offer Mandatory Legal Education for Lawyers. In fulfilment of its mandate, it organises national and international conferences, seminars, symposia, lecture on any branch of law and related subjects.
Conference of Western Attorneys General is a US-based bipartisan group comprised of the chief legal officers of 15 western states and three Pacific territories. CWAG’s primary function is to provide a forum for chief legal officers of member states and jurisdictions to cultivate knowledge, cooperate on concerns and coordinate actions which improve the quality of legal services available to members.
The Workshop on – “Oral Advocacy in Nigeria” is designed to cover the following topics: Direct examination; Cross examination and impeachment by inconsistent statement; Presenting evidence; Arguing motions, objections and hearings; Final written addresses. The mode of teaching would include interactive presentations, case studies, practical sessions/mock trials, which would ensure that the participants are greatly enlightened.
This Workshop is relevant to Prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, external counsel and lawyers generally as we aim to tap from the wealth of knowledge and experience from both local and international seasoned litigators and prosecutors. The rich sessions are meant to equip the participants with sufficient knowledge, depth and expertise required to effect positive change presenting their cases in court.
