The Bayelsa State Government has said it would continue to support Bayelsans to Achieve greatness educationally. The State Commissioner for education, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa on the 15th December 2018, while commending the Governor Dickson’s led Restoration Government for sponsoring 28 Bayelsans to Nigerian Law School.
Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite has said that the Restoration Government led by His Excellency, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson will not relent in fulfilling the academic dream of every son and daughter of the Ijaw Nation.
The commissioner has disclosed that the Governor approved and directed the release of fund to enable 28 Bayelsans under the umbrella body of The Bayelsa State Law Graduates Forum (BALAGRAF) who gained admission into the Nigerian Law School for the 2018/2019 session, but could not afford to join their colleagues to further their education as lawyers due to some financial constraints.
The statement thanked the Governor for putting smiles on the faces of these select students and their parents, saying that “It takes an education friendly governor to take such a bold step to grant them scholarship into the Law school with such a short notice and in a time when the inflow from the Federal level is little”.
“I therefore urge the youths in the State to take maximum advantage of the revolution in the education sector and ensure that you attain an enviable height educationally instead of engaging in social vices that are of no good to you and the State at large”, Obuebite said.
He also extended the gratitude from the 28 students to the governor.
The students who were overwhelmed by the kind gesture and magnanimity of the Governor showered praises and encomium to His Excellency for playing the role of a father when they needed it the most, assuring the Governor and the State that they would not let him down but would uphold the name of the Ijaw Nation.
