It will be recalled that the National Secretariat of the NBA timeously set up the Branch Elections Monitoring Committee (Western Zone) as election crisis were brewing in the NBA Badagry, just like its counterparts in Warri, Ikeja and Ikorodu. BEMC heard all the petitions and recommended a dissolution of the Election Committee of the Badagry Branch. Upon the recommendation, the NBA empowered BEMC to conduct the election.
The BEMC, Western Zone had in the last one week assisted the respective Election Committees of Warri and Ikeja Branches to conduct their elections. In the Badagry case, BEMC’s members had to directly conduct the election for Badagry.
The Badagry election was devoid of any form of hitch and rancour, as seen in some election venues of NBA Branches in recent times. The attitude of winners and losers after the election was particularly commendable as they embraced one another and exchanged pleasantries. Thus, members and leaders of the Badagry Branch were in jubilant mood, thanking BEMC for helping to restore peace after a long period of intrigues, rift and acrimony among the contestants and the Election Committee of the Branch.
