The secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Bwari Branch, Mr. Felix Ashimole popularly known as Che Oyinatumba has resigned.

According to his resignation letter which he shared on his facebook page, Mr. Ashimole who is currently the Owerri-North House of Assembly candidate of MAJA Party noted that  it is his moral conviction that being a candidate of a political party, he should not be an officer of NBA.

The letter:

06/12/2018.

The General Secretary,
Nigerian Bar Association,
NBA House,
Central Area,
FCT Abuja.

Dear learned GS,

RESIGNATION AS SECRETARY OF NBA BWARI.

Pursuant to section 14 (2) of NBA Uniform Bye-Law For Branches 2015, I wish to tender my resignation as Secretary of NBA Bwari, 020.

Despite Section 8(3)(e) of 2015 NBA Constitution not applicable to me or is there any section that compels me to resign for being in partisan politics; it is my moral conviction that being a candidate of a political party, I should not be an officer of NBA.
Furthermore, I have kept faith by attending the first NEC meeting organized by Paul Usoro SAN.

I chose to do this before resigning, to show that despite my candidate, Arthur Obi-Okafor SAN, losing at the just concluded NBA Election, I bear the “winner” no ill feelings despite my continuous insistence that things be done in strict compliance with the NBA Constitution, particularly post election audit. Second Schedule 2.8. This will help NBA know truly, how many lawyers participated in the election and use the data to plan for next election.

I wish Paul Usoro SAN well as he tiptoes through the land mines in NBA politics.
I wish Mohamed I Tsav, Chairman NBA Bwari and members of NBA Bwari Branch well as they strive to heal the wounds in the Branch.

I humbly submit that my replacement, should be done in strict compliance with Section 14 of the Bye Law. NBA local branches, should learn to conduct its affairs guided by the provisions of the Bye Law.

I wish NBA well; I remain committed to NBA, promotion of Rule of Law, but my constituency needs my full attention as I move around in search of votes to emerge as Imo State House of Assembly Member.
Long live NBA.

©️Ashimole Felix, Esq.

3rd Vice President
Mohammed I Tsav.
