National Assembly Siege: Osinbajo Renews Hope in Democracy – Prof Ojukwu

Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ernest Ojukwu SAN has expressed his excitement over the sack of the DSS boss Lawal Musa Daura by the Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN.

Ojukwu who urged all Nigerians to play more proactive roles in protecting our democracy noted that the Acting President has displayed an exemplary leadership.

In his words; “The immediate and unequivocal condemnation of the illegal DSS-Police siege on the National Assembly and the decisive termination of the appointment of the DSS boss by His Excellency AG President Yemi Osinbajo SAN has renewed great hopes that our democracy shall survive.”

“I am excited to be counted as a Nigerian, a lawyer and a law teacher by this example of leadership by our Acting President.”

“I urge all Nigerians the Nigerian Bar Association inclusive to play more proactive roles in protecting our democracy, rule of law and human rights.”

“We should not allow a few men and women to destroy our country by their impunity.”

Following the invasion of the National Assembly premises yesterday and restricting entrance into the complex by men of the DSS, the Vice President had sacked the DG of the DSS. While many saw this as a welcomed development others insist that a lot more needs to be done to ensure that the sacked DG reveal on whose orders he acted.
