NBA Ikeja Suspends Protest; To Hold Joint Press Conference with Lagos COP

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch has suspended its planned protest march against Police Brutality.

According to the Chairman of the branch Mr. Adesina Ogunlana, the rally which was scheduled to hold today, February 20, 2018 was shielded after a lengthy meeting between the Commissioner of Police and the Leadership of the Branch.

In his words;  “This development arose after a lengthy meeting of the CP and the TIGER Bar leadership this afternoon at the instance of the Commissioner of Police , who passionately pleaded for the understanding of the Tiger Bar and begged for the shelving of the of the protest march.”

The Chairman stated that the leadership acceded to the pleas of the COP on the condition that a joint conference to address the branch’s grievances is held. “We acceded to the pleas of the Commissioner on the condition that he at a joint conference with us at our secretariat tomorrow will address our grievances and concern over the constant maltreatment of Nigerian citizens by the police.”

“The gentleman agreed and that was it. We now appeal to our members and admirers for understanding. Let’s wait till tomorrow to see if anyone is playing games.”

The joint press conference is scheduled to hold on 20th of February, 2018 at the NBA Ikeja Branch Secretariat, Ikeja high Court at 12 noon.
