NBA Sets Up Branch Elections Monitoring Committee

Worried about the spate of disputes arising from NBA branch elections across the country, the NBA President Mr. A.B Mahmoud, SAN has set up in the three NBA delineated zones “Branch Elections Monitoring Committee (BEMC)” to tackle these disputes as they arise.

The above is contained in a statement issued by the General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Isiaka Lagunju.

All NBA branches are advised to forward Election related disputes to the Committee.

Branches that are already enmeshed in dispute are directed to suspend further preparations towards elections pending the final determination of all issues arising from the petitions submitted by aggrieved members to the BEMC.

The Committees is expected to submit its report to the NBA within seven (7) days from 7th June.

The President enjoin all Electoral Committees of the various NBA Branches including but not limited to Badagry, Ikorodu, Oturkpo, Isiokpo, Owerri, Warri, Bwari, Gusau, Ikeja and Nnewi branches, to adhere strictly to the directive in the interest of the Bar.

He also enjoined all members to cooperate fully with the Branch Election Monitoring Committee.
