This EBF Asaba Meeting: Beware of the Drumbeats of Doom – Cordelia Eke Warns

Following the defeat of some of its adopted candidates at the just concluded Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) National Election, the Eastern Bar Forum has summoned an Emergency Meeting in Asaba the Delta State capital. Top on the agenda for the Emergency Meeting are issues surrounding the election which members of the forum have alleged was rigged.

In the notice convening the Emergency Meeting, the Publicity Secretary of the Forum George Fortune Igbikikuno specifically requested attendees to attend the meeting with “any incontrovertible evidence concerning the 2018 NBA General Election that will immensely assist our course.”

Following the above development, a Past Secretary of the NBA Port Harcourt branch, Cordelia Eke has voiced out here concern over the purpose of the proposed meeting noting that the meeting spells out doom. In her words:

“The recent call for an urgent EBF meeting at ASABA urging members to come with incontrovertible evidence against the just concluded NBA electoral process is incontrovertibly the drumbeat of doom for its people. The madness of a few has come out on the streets and there is no more cure! The EBF has dug its grave and is just looking for those to enter inside with it. By even daring to touch Port Harcourt Branch, the largest Branch in the EBF they show that they are political novices and not given to any appreciable level of intellectual strategy.

May I advise the Branch Chairmen to take heed lest their Branches be dragged into the grave dug by a few greedy men in the EBF to achieve their inordinate ambition! The Branches are formal units of the NBA and subject to its disciplinary measures, while the EBF is not. If you want to allow EBF destroy your Branches, you will have posterity and your Branch members to answer to. I also want to call all members of NBA Branches in the EBF zone to call their Branch Chairmen to order now, lest you become the grass and face the wrath of the NBA National for unconstitutional activities. I hope there are still a few sane ears that would listen.”
