VAPP Act: FIDA Nigeria Seek Effective Implementation

FIDA Nigeria on Thursday 28th June, 2018 held a National Stakeholders workshop on the Effective Implementation of the Violence against Persons Prohibition(VAPP) Act in Abuja and its equivalent in Lagos with the theme: “VAPP Act 2015; the journey so far and the way forward”.

The Stakeholders converged to review the challenges hindering the effective implementation of VAPP Act and also come up with innovative strategies, specific roles, and actions for each stakeholders to ensure full implementation of the Act.

The workshop had in attendance over a hundred stakeholders representing several government/non-governmental organizations including National Human Rights Commission, National Orientation Agency, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Project (ROLAC) by the British Council, Disability Rights Advocacy Centre, Population Council, Federal Ministry of Justice, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Lawyers Alert, IPAS, Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Abuja Association of the Deaf Women Wing (AADWW), Legislative Advocacy Coalition for Violence Against Women (LACVAW).
