Why We Set Up the NBA Women Forum – Paul Usoro SAN

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Paul Usoro SAN has said the purpose of setting up the NBA Women Forum is to protect and promote the interest of female lawyers in the legal profession by creating a networking opportunities for them.

Mr. Usoro said this during the inauguration of the Executives of the NBA Women Forum held on Tuesday, 17 September 2019, at the Best Western Hotel, Lagos.

Speaking during his opening speech, the President noted that the Forum is a creation of the NBA Constitution and as such, would have all its activities regulated by the NBA 2015 Constitution (as amended). He referred particularly to the provisions of the Uniform Bye-Laws for Sections, Institutions and Fora in this regard.

He enjoined the Executives to build a sustainable Women Forum and to run a transparent administration emulating the trend in the NBA National.

In her opening remarks, the Chairperson of the Forum, Prof Oluyemisi A Bamgbose, SAN thanked the NBA President for finding the Executives fit to serve as executive members of the NBA Women Forum. She commended the President for the excellent work he is doing in the NBA and assured the President that the Forum will effectively deliver its mandate, and continue to support the Paul Usoro, SAN led administration in its various reforms in the NBA.

Present at the inaugural meeting were the NBA President, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN, the 2nd Vice President of the NBA, Dr. Foluke Dada and the executive members of the Women Forum.

It would be recalled that Mr. Usoro SAN had on Saturday, September 7, 2019 announced the constitution of a four member Executive Committee of the NBA Women Forum with Prof. Bamgbose, SAN, Mrs. Chinyere Okorocha, Mrs. Nsidibe Aideyan  and Hajia Safiya I Balarabe  as members. (read here)
