Court Grants Emperor Ogbonna N20m Bail

Justice Aninih of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday granted bail to Emperor Gabriel Ogbonna, a lawyer who arrested over a Facebook post.

Ogbonna was alleged to have posted that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State visited a shrine outside the country where he swore to an oath of allegiance and secrecy to former governor of the state.

Ogbonna who denied being the originator of the post was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting at Umuahia, the state capital, on April 29 but rearrested hours later by the DSS. He has since been in custody.

Justice Aninih granted the lawyer bail in the sum of N20m with 2 sureties who must have landed property in Abuja and  one of whom must be a civil servant not below Grade level 14.

The case was adjourned to September 17, 2020.
