Ogun State Judiciary has issued a notice cancelling the 2020 Annual Court Vacation in the state.
In a letter to the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Ota Branch signed by the Deputy Chief Registrar (Legal) M.A Akinyemi, the cancellation became necessary in view of the lockdown induced by Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
The letter reads in part:
“I have the directive of the Hon. Chief Judge to relate to you, that in view of the COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown, the Ogun State Judiciary will not be closing for 2020 Court vacation, rather individual Hon. Judges will be proceeding on Annual Vacation as approved by the Hon. Chief Judge.”
Kindly circulate the information among members.
Ogun State becomes the first state to announce the cancellation of the annual court vacation which usually holds between July to September in all courts of records in Nigeria.
It is expected that judiciaries of other states would follow suit.
