#EndSARS: Sam Adeyemi, Tuface React to Kenechukwu Okeke’s Lawsuits

Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre and Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2baba, have reacted to the suit filed against them and 48 others over their involvement in the protest against police brutality and bad governance.

An activist identified as Kenechukwu Okeke, filed a lawsuit at the Chief Magistrate’s court in Abuja, FCT.

Okeke in the suit filed against 50 Nigerians noted that the defendants used their Twitter accounts to conspire amongst themselves to “commit misdemeanor, to wit promoting or acting in such a manner with intent to assist in the promotion of an unlawful assembly under the guise or composition of #EndSARS”.

Okeke claimed that the offence was punishable under Section 97 (2) of the Penal Code Act, C53 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Pastor Adeyemi in a post on his Twitter account wrote, “Who sent this guy to file this frivolous lawsuit?”

Reacting, Tuface in a statement by his manager Efe Omorogbe, described the suit as a mere social media trend.

“There’s no comment yet. We have not been served any paper. We have not received any formal summon.”

He added that they cannot respond to the charge until they receive a summon.

“We can’t respond to what is merely trending on social media until we receive a summon we can’t respond,” he added.
