Imo Lawmaker Remanded for Alleged Assault on Deputy Speaker


A state lawmaker in Imo state, Hercules Okoro, has been remanded in prison for alleged  assault on the deputy speaker of the House, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu.

According to source, the lawmaker who represents Ohaji Egbema state constituency, was been remanded in an Owerri correctional facility. The magistrate court presided over by D.V. Okoroji made the order on Monday, November 16. Okoro was arrested on November 13, following an altercation between him and deputy speaker.

Okoro was arraigned and charged with an eight-count assault. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
