Jigawa State Judiciary Cancels 2020 Courts Annual Vacation

Jigawa State Judiciary has cancelled the 2020 Annual Court Vacation. The notice cancelling the vacation was announced by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Aminu Sabo Ringim,

According to the Chief Judge, the court vacation which was formerly scheduled to commence from 13th July, 2020 and end on 11th September. 2020 was cancelled in view of the prolonged stay at home occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chief Judge noted that in view of the willingness of Judges in the state to continue to sit to expeditiously hear backlog of cases with a view to decongesting the State’s Correctional Centres, the Annual Vacation was cancelled.

Jigawa State Judiciary would be the second in the country to announce the cancellation of its Annual Court Vacation for 2020. Ogun State Judiciary had earlier cancelled its own vacation for the same reason
