AN Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, has withdrawn a N500bn lawsuit against the Corporate Affairs Commission.
In a statement by the President General of the group, Basil Onuorah, it said the withdrawal was sequel to the reinstatement of the registration certificate of the group by the commission.
The statement read in part, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide is pleased to inform the general public that the Corporate Affairs Commission has restored the organisation’s Certificate of Incorporation earlier withdrawn by the commission.
“The Corporate Affairs Commission notified Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide of the certificate reinstatement in a letter signed by the commission, dated today (Tuesday) being 20th of October 2020. “We have also discontinued our N500bn civil suit against the commission with Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/790/2020. This is a victory for democracy and rule of law.”
A letter of reinstatement of the group by the CAC titled, ‘Reinstatement of Certificate of Registration: Incorporated Trustees of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly’, sighted by our correspondent, was signed by Femi Ogunlade on behalf of the Registrar-General.
