The Lagos State Special Offences Court on Monday adjourned till Tuesday (today) the alleged child molestation case against embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, after the testimony of comedienne Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess.
Those present in court included Baba Ijesha and actress Iyabo Ojo, as Princess told the judge how she met the defendant.
Princess said she met Baba Ijesha in 2008 at an event and they decided to start making comedy skits together.
She said, “Baba Ijesha wooed me in the process of our work relationship, but I rejected his proposal.
“I got close to him afterwards, especially after my marriage crashed in 2013. I invested in his education and he later visited me at home.”
She claimed that the actor visited her at her residence on the day he was caught allegedly sexually assaulting her foster daughter.
The court sent reporters out before playing a video clip which allegedly captured Baba Ijesha molesting the 14-year-old victim.
The actor is facing six counts of rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions has said it will prosecute a Nollywood actor, Mr Yomi Fabiyi, over alleged contempt of court for airing a movie he produced titled, Oko Iyabo.
Adeyemi noted that the movie, which was aired after the proceedings of June 24, 2021, breached the judge’s directives by revealing sensitive information about the case before the court.
The judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, expressed displeasure at the development and ordered an investigation.
The case was adjourned till Tuesday for continuation of trial.
