The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gwagwalada branch has asked the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to investigate the death of its member, late Uzonwanne Chidinma Mercy who died of surgery complications allegedly occasioned by the negligent act of one Dr. Jide Kudehinbu.
According to the petition signed by the Chairman of the NBA branch, Isah Aliyu Esq., Dr. Kudehinbu allegedly lured the deceased from the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital Abuja to his private hospital, Medmore Hopsital where he carried out a fibroid removal operation which led to the complications that caused her death.
The complainants alleged that the deceased had undergone the surgery at Medmore hospital in December 2020 and discharged before suffering a relapse. The deceased was then readmitted at the Airforce hospital where she went into coma in the process of carrying out a corrective surgery and was subsequently transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital where she passed on, on 22nd January, 2021
It was also the complaint of the NBA branch that the autopsy report carried out on the deceased shows that Dr. Kudehinbu was complicit in the negligent death of the young lawyer.
