The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Honourable Justice S.C Amadi has announced the period between Monday, 23rd August, 2021 to Tuesday, 14th September, 2021 as the period for the 2021 Annual Court Vacation in the State.

My Lord said that the above abridgment is to enable High Courts in Rivers State to hear backlog of cases and to decongest the highly congested Port Harcourt and Ahoada Correctional Centers occasioned by the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdown and the two months of JUSUN Strike.

The statement issued by the Chief Judge reads in part;

  • ”All Hon. Judges of the High Court of Rivers State shall proceed on annual vacation from Monday 23rd August, 2021 to Tuesday, 14th September, 2021.
  • The High Court shall resume normal court sitting on Wednesday, 15th September, 2021. Accordingly, all Judicial Divisions of the High Court of Rivers State shall remain closed on those days.
  • Any urgent matters shall be heard by Vacation Judges to be appointed by the Chief Judge
