Civil Society Organisations, under the aegis of Transparency and Accountability Network, have called for the establishment of a Special Anti-corruption court. The CSOs explained that such a court would expedite the trial of corruption cases.
The National Coordinator of TAN, Olukunle Adeogun, said this on Thursday at a press briefing to announce the activities lined up to mark the 2021 edition of the World Anti- Corruption Day.
Adeogun said the special court would also help to reduce the burden of many cases.
He said, “Corruption is a serious crime that can undermine social and economic development in all societies and no country, region or community is immune.”
“We call on the National and State Assemblies to make laws to establish this court. We, however, call on governments at all levels to adopt preventive measures to fight corruption rather than the combative measures.”
