For the first time in history, the Nigerian Bar Association, (“NBA”), Benin Branch on Thursday, January 20, 2022 paid a courtesy visit His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Ogidigan, the Oba of Benin Kingdom.
Below is the report of the visit as compiled by the Branch Publicity Secretary, Ogaga Emoghwanre, Esq., AICMC
Members of the Association were treated to a first-class royalty during the special visit to the palace.
There a meet-and-greet time for members of the Bar and some palace chiefs, after which the Chief Security Officer of the Palace ushered distinguished members of the Bar to the throne room of the Oba of Benin Kingdom.
He also reported that the royal atmosphere of the palace would give one away as being in a dreamland. What a sight to behold! From the royal flowing apparel to the unique presentation of kola nuts, to one of the most exotic and refined dry gin I have ever tasted, to the sight of the royal father on his exalted throne, it was simply stupendous.
The Chairman of the Bar. Mr. Pius Oiwoh while eulogizing His Royal Majesty, congratulated him on the delivery of his quadruplet, as well as the 5th Coronation Anniversary of the Omo N’Oba on the Royal Throne of Benin Kingdom.
In response, His Royal Majesty stated that all he has been doing since his coronation were as directed by the supernatural, which same supernatural flow has continued with the sole aim to better the land and Nigeria in general.
He also pledged his unalloyed assistance to the NBA and indeed, every Nigerian lawyer.
In an unprecedented move, the Exco and members of the Association present received Royal blessings from the palace that will last them a lifetime.
This legendary visit left an indelible mark in the minds of every member of the Bar in attendance. It is said that the kingdom of the Oba transcends the territorial waters of Africa. This was made real to us. The Oba is indeed the king amongst kings.
