Lagos State Magistrates have been mandated to seek the approval of the Chief Judge Honourable Justice K.O Alogba before issuing arrest and search warrants in the state.
In a circular addressed to all magistrates in the State, the Deputy Chief Registrar (Special Duties), Ikeja, Mrs. F.A. Azeez noted that “under no circumstances must warrant of arrest or search warrant be issued without first obtaining the approval of the Chief Judge.”
The circular further enjoined their Honours to direct Police officers seeking to obtain warrant of arrest or search warrant to first apply to the Chief Registrar for necessary approvals.
