Olaniwun Ajayi LP, a leading law firm in Africa has announced the launch of an innovation lab – OA Innovation Lab. According to the firm, the OA Innovation Lab is a platform to develop and promote technology-based service delivery in the legal sector in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

The launch is coming as part of the firm’s 60th Anniversary celebration activities;

At the heart of what we do at Olaniwun Ajayi LP is continuing to strive to break the mold, push the boundaries and redefine client experience and service delivery. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in a unique and memorable fashion and moving into the next frontier of the legal technology space, we are proud to introduce the OA Innovation Lab – a platform to develop and promote technology-based service delivery in the legal sector in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

The OA Innovation Lab was birthed to serve as a platform that induces, encourages, and develops a portfolio of beacon projects, products and services within the evolving Legal ecosystem. By developing a workspace with its own unique culture, we have positioned the Lab to serve as a hub for agile and creative process thinking required for driving novel ideas and innovations.”

The Assistant Manager of  Olaniwun Ajayi LP, Ayodeji Oyewumi has this to say about the OA Innovation Lab:

“Disruptive technologies typically enable new markets to emerge.”
― Clayton M. Christensen

Astounding, to say the least! …

In a market where most innovators go after under-served markets (with others going after over-served markets in a bid to dilute market share), Olaniwun Ajayi has once again reinvented the wheel.

OA has again answered questions many didn’t realise an emerging market was asking, with the first known attempt at creating an ecosystem and a true platform business.

… 60 years ago, we crawled unto scene, so that us together with others, could today run. Maintaining incredible staying power, these many years and establishing the legal/professional service market in prominence within sub-saharan Africa, and recognition from the international legal society.

So when, many years after now (God keeping), there is a proliferation of such attempts at this market (and there will be), remember who first lay down the gauntlet, OALP!
