On Friday, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, officially endorsed the Enugu State Electricity Bill, recognising it as a significant stride towards fostering economic growth and positioning the state as the premier hub for investment, commerce, tourism, and residential living.

During the ceremony held at the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah emphasised that his administration’s ambition to elevate Enugu State’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion would remain a distant aspiration without a reliable and consistent power supply. This underscores the necessity of the Electricity Bill, which had been submitted to the House of Assembly approximately two weeks ago.

Furthermore, Governor Mbah expressed his gratitude to the leadership and members of the House of Assembly for their swift approval of the Bill and their bipartisan collaboration, all aimed at the betterment of Enugu State.

In attendance at the signing were notable figures, including the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Ugwu, represented by Deputy Speaker Hon. Ezenta Ezeani, as well as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, and the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, among other state officials.
