The Federal High Court has reinstated Honourable Justice Gladys K Olotu as a Judicial Officer.
The reinstatement is contained in a cirular issued by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court , Honourable Justice J. T. Tshoho dated 27th January 2023.
The circular which is addressed to all judges of the Federal High Court noted that the reinstatement was pursuant to the approval by the National Judicial Council at its 100th meeting held on 16th January, 2023.
“Your Lordships are by this circular letter notified that the National Judicial Council at its 100th meeting held on 16th January, 2023, approved the reinstatement of Honourable Justice Gladys K Olotu as a Judicial Officer.
The reinstatement is with immediate effect and the necessary consequential directives will follow in due time.”
Recall that Justice Olotu was appointed a judge of Federal High Court on July 28, 2000 and resumed on the Bench on September 1, 2000 and was subsequently recommended for compulsory retirement by the NJC, a retirment which was approved by the then President Goodluck Jonathan on February 27, 2014.
Aggrieved by the decision, Justice Olotu sued the NJC at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) in Abuja. The NICN, on September 20, 2017 upheld the NJC’s decision.
Dissatisfied, the Judge approached the Court of Appeal in Abuja for redress and won.
The Appellate Court on February 25, 2022 voided Justice Olotu’s compulsory retirement.
