Kogi CJ’s 10th basketball Tournament holds Dec 27

The 10th Ajanah Annual Inter-local government Basketball Championship sponsored by the Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah will hold at Okene from December 27.

Secretary of the Main Organising Committee for the tournament, Ajibarade Bello, who disclosed this on Monday  in Lokoja while unveiling the championship trophy, said over 13 local government areas in the state will be taking part in the event.

He said the objectives of the tournament include promotion of unity and peaceful co-existence amongst youths in the state; development of basketball in state; identification and exposure of basketball talents; development of sports facilities and positive engagement of youths during festive periods, amongst others.

According to him, prize money of N1 million and trophies would be doled out to outstanding players at the end of the tournament.

He said categories of those to be rewarded at the end of the tournament include 2nd and 3rd trophies; 3-point shooting championship, most valuable player, tournament’s best five, fair play trophies, highest scorer, most improved team and best rebounder.

Bello said that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure that the event billed to hold at the Okene Club and the FCE Okene Courts are hitch free.
