A total of 260 candidates who sat for the November 2024 Bar Final Examinations have emerged with the coveted First-Class grade.
The figure represents 3.6 per cent of the 7,134 candidates who participated in the examinations conducted by the Nigerian Law School.
940 candidates, representing 13.2 per cent did not meet the requirements for admission to the Bar, having failed the examinations. In total, 84 per cent of candidates were successful, while 16 per cent did not scale through.
According to reliable sources, the Council of Legal Education (CLE), is currently withholding the results of some successful candidates. The affected results are being reviewed for various reasons, though specifics remain undisclosed.
In terms of overall performance, 1,193 candidates (16.7%) earned Second Class Upper Honours, while 2,638 candidates (37.0%) received the Second-Class Lower Honours. Another 1,595 candidates (22.4%) were awarded a Pass grade, and 327 candidates (4.6%) secured a Conditional Pass. A total of 181 candidates (2.5%) were absent from the examinations.
The release of the Bar Final results has recently stirred public interest and legislative scrutiny. A motion on the matter was jointly sponsored by Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu and Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka at the House of Representatives, prompting increased attention on the examination body.
In a statement dated March 28, 2025, the Council of Legal Education assured stakeholders that the release process was nearing completion. It emphasized that all quality assurance protocols must be satisfied before the official publication of results.
There are strong indications that the Council will release the official results in the coming days.
