Let’s Stand Up for Equality, Justice and Human Dignity – FIDA Nigeria

Date:

The International Federation of women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria is calling on all stakeholders to join hands with the United Nations, Civil Society Organisations, Government and its agencies, and all other relevant stakeholders to stand up for equality, justice and human dignity.

The Association made this known in a press release in commemoration of the International Human Rights Day 2017. the press release which was signed by Inime I. Aguma, Country Vice President/National President FIDA Nigeria notes:

“The year 2017 marks the 69th year since adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 (UDHR). As we approach the 70th year, we must celebrate this milestone document that clearly delineates the rights which every human being is entitled to regardless of sex, race, colour, religion, national or social origin, language, political or other opinion, property, birth or other status.

Today, we can speak about protection and promotion of the human rights of women and children in Nigeria because of the foundation laid by the UDHR. FIDA Nigeria continues to build upon this foundation by ensuring that the rights of women and children in Nigeria are widely known.

Our message this year is simple – let us join hands with the United Nations, Civil Society Organisations, Government and its agencies, and all other relevant stakeholders to stand up for equality, justice and human dignity. Let us uphold the tenates of the UDHR as we press on for a Nigeria where everyone feels safe and free.
