Chief Arthur Obi Okafor’ Loses Suit Challenging the 2018 NBA Election

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has dismissed the suit filed by Chief Arthur Obi Okafor SAN challenging the 2018 National Election of the Nigeria Bar Association which brought in the present Executive.

In a judgment delivered today, 28th January 2020, the court resolved all the claims against the Claimant.

It would be recalled that Chief Obi Okafor SAN had filed an originating summons against 37 persons including the Registered Trustees of the Nigerian Bar Association; the past President of NBA; the Chairman of the 2018 Electoral Committee of the NBA; the President of the NBA among others.

Among the reliefs sought by Chief Obi Okafor is  an order of court declaring that the failure of the ECNBA to conduct an all candidate participatory election audit before the announcement and issuance of certificate of return to the incoming president renders the said announcement null and void.
