Former President, CLO Uche Durueke Dies in Fire Accident

Former Chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mr. Chidi Odinkalu announced the tragic news of Mr. Wisdom Uche Durueke’s death via his Twitter handle, where he wrote:

Mr. Wisdom Uche Durueke, former President, Civil Liberties Organization (CLO)

“Awful, tragic news from Owerri, Imo State: @DURUCHEWISE, former President of the Civil Liberties Organisation #CLO & 1 of #Nigeria’s more effective #humanrights lawyers died this afternoon, from burns suffered in a domestic fire incident last week.

Uche Wisdom Durueke  was the President of  Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) and the President, Centre for Peace Across (CePAB). Also, he sits in the Board of West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) Nigeria as the Director of Publicity. He was in the Steering Committee of the Nigeria Social Forum. He was the Focal Person for Citizens Forum for Constitutional Reforms, Imo State.
