2023 General Election: A’ Court President Constitutes Election Petition Tribunal in Rivers State

The Appeal Court President, Hon. Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, has constituted  the  Governorship, National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunals for  Rivers State with the mandate to  hear and determine  Election Petition(s) that  may arise from the upcoming 2023 General Elections in the State.

The tribunal is constituted pursuant to the powers conferred on the President of the Court of Appeal under section 285 (2) and (3) of the 1999 Constitution  of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and Section 131  (1)  of  the   Electoral  Act,  2022  (as amended).

According to the press release to this effect, the “Honorable Chief Judge of  Rivers State, Honorable Justice  Simeon Chibuzor  Amadi, has granted the use of Magistrate Court 1 hall, Second  Floor,  Block A, Rivers State High Court Complex, Station Road, Port Harcourt  to  be used by the Governorship Panel  and Magistrate Court 3  hall, Second Floor, Block A, of the same address for use of the Legislative  Panel of the Tribunal respectively.”

Members of  the  General Public are advised to contact the Secretary of the Tribunal  at the Registry/Secretariat of the Tribunal at the Rivers State High Court Complex, Station Road, Port Harcourt.
