Hon. President of the National Industrial Court, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, OFR will speak at the National Workshop on the reform of the Capital Gain Tax being hosted by the Nigerian Law Reform Commission on Wednesday 24th May 2023 at Reiz Continental Hotel, Central Area, Abuja.
Hon. President will be represented by the erudite jurist, the Presiding Judge of Owerri Judicial division, Hon. Justice Nelson Ogbuanya, Fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCTI) who will do justice to the discussion that would assist the commission in arriving at its final recommendation to the Federal Government on the Capital Gain Tax.
The Nigerian Law Reform Commission pursuant to the provision of sections 5 and 7 of the Commission Act 2022 and in line with the good governance program of the Federal Government Agenda, the commission is working to review and reform the Capital Gain Tax Act.
The reform is intended to address some defects and inadequacies in the Act in order to strengthen revenue for the government which further would stimulate and strengthen the economy as a good alternative and addition to oil revenue.
