Gov. Idris Swears In Chief Judge, Grand Kadi in Kebbi

Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, on Monday, in a historic occasion, swore in the chief judge of Kebbi, Umar Abubakar, and his counterpart in the sharia system, the state Grand Kadi, Alhaji Siddiku Usman, in Birnin Kebbi at the presidential lodge.

Earlier, in his speech, the governor admonished them to be above board with their official duties by dispensing justice to all manner of people in the state.

Idris added that they have made history in Kebbi as they are the first chief law officers to be sworn in on the same day. He assured his government’s support at all times, saying the judiciary is an important arm of government that must be taken care of by his government.

Similarly, the governor also pledged to supply pumping machines to farmers in the state to aid farming activities and encourage an early bumper harvest to complement the federal government food security programme in Nigeria.

In a related development, the governor also inaugurated boards, which include the governing board for the state university Aliero, the boards for the College of Nursing Sciences, the College of Education, Argungu, the preaching board, and the College of Health Sciences, Jega, among other boards and parastatals.

The new chief judge, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, thanked the governor for the honour and pledged to work according to the oath of office and as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.

The occasion was attended by top government functionaries and members of their families.
