NBA Ikeja Branch Threaten to Boycott 2024 AGC Over High Registration Fee

Date:

Members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch have threatened to boycott the 2024 NBA Annual General Conference  (NBA-AGC) over the exorbitant conference registration fee.

The NBA Branch at its May, 2014 monthly meeting condemned the high registration fee and subsequently resolved that if the organizers fail to reverse the fee to what was charged in 2023, the members of the branch will boycott the conference.

The NBA-NEC had earlier approved a revised registration fee for conferees and placed the early bird registration fee for young lawyers at 50,000. Compared to the 2023 early bird registration fee of N15,000, the NBA branch believe the fee hike is unreasonable and failed to consider the interest of the general members of the bar.

Being a NEC decision, it remains to be seen whether the demands of the branch would be met as a reversal of the fee will require a decision by the NEC.
