BREAKING: EFCC Seeks Interim Forfeiture of Patience Jonathan’s $3.6m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asked a Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos to grant an order of interim forfeiture of the sum of $3,645,013.73 (Three Million, Six Hundred and Forty Five Thousand, Thirteen United States Dollar, Seventy Three Cent) domiciled with First Bank of Nigeria Ltd and traced to Mrs Patience Jonathan, wife of the former President.

In documents put before the court, the EFCC says the sum is reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities diverted from the Federal Government.

A Court of Appeal in Lagos on Friday, January 12 upheld the order of interim forfeiture of the sum of $5, 842, 316.66 and N2, 421, 953, 522.78 traced to the accounts of the wife of former President.
