At exactly 7:05 pm today 28th August,2020, Mr. Olumide Akpata was sworn in as the 30th President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) amidst thunderous celebration.
In a ceremony which was held at the NBA National Secretariat Abuja and streamed live, Mr. Akpata was sworn in immediately after the NBA Annual General Meeting. The swearing in and hand over marked the end of the tenure of Mr. Paul Usoro’s led Putting You First Bar and ushers in an administration that promises to take the NBA to a greater height.
Upon the swearing in of the New President, he called on Mr. Yemi Akangbe, of Lagos branch to move the motion for the dissolution of the Usoro SAN led Executive and seconded by a past President of the NBA Abuja branch Mr. Desmond Iyama.
Mr. Akpata thanked the past executive for ensuring that the Association was held together. Thereafter, Mr. Akpata swore in members of his Excos.
