Painful Exit: Legal Community Mourns the Passing of Rebecca Olufunke Bajomo

Date:

The Nigerian legal community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Rebecca Olufunke Bajomo, who died on Thursday, 10th April 2025, after a brief illness. She was 40 years old.

Born on 12th September 1984, Funke was a proud alumna of Lagos State University, graduating in 2009 before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2010 and had, until her passing, distinguished herself as a diligent and principled legal practitioner.

Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the First African Church Mission – Christ Church Cathedral, located at 3/5 Oyingbo Road, Ebute Metta, Lagos. Interment will follow immediately after at the Atan Cemetery, Yaba.

In line with tradition, lawyers are enjoined to attend the church service fully robed, as a mark of honour to their departed colleague.

Funke was known for her quiet strength, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to justice. Her passing is a profound loss to the legal community and all who knew her.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.
