The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches in Enugu has formally inaugurated a 70-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for its highly anticipated 2025 National Conference, scheduled to hold from August 22 to 29 in Enugu Smart City. At the helm of the LOC is renowned legal luminary, devout Christian, and respected bar man, Mr. Ikeazor Akaraiwe, SAN, who was unanimously selected to lead the committee.
The inaugural meeting took place at the conference room of Mr. Akaraiwe’s law firm in Enugu and was well-attended by members of the LOC, all expressing eagerness to contribute towards what many hope will be the most successful NBA conference to date.
The committee was inaugurated by the Alternate LOC Chairman, Professor Joy Ezeilo, SAN — a distinguished legal scholar, UN Rapporteur, Life Bencher, and Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
To ensure a smooth and well-coordinated event, 18 sub-committees have been constituted under the leadership of seasoned legal professionals and stakeholders. The sub-committees and their principal officers are as follows:

The LOC is expected to work in synergy with the NBA National Conference Planning Committee chaired by Chief Emeka Obegolu SAN, which will conduct an inspection visit to Enugu on May 28 and 29, 2025.
The inauguration concluded with a friendly and relaxed reception for attendees, who were treated to generous hospitality in true Enugu fashion. The closing prayer was delivered by Rev. Sr. Chinyere J. Dinwoke, Secretary of the LOC.
With a strong team of professionals and a clear vision, the 2025 NBA National Conference in Enugu is set to be a landmark event in the Association’s history.
