Legal representatives of Senator Natasha-Akpoti Uduaghan have confirmed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) filed a three-count charge against her concerning statements allegedly damaging the reputation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a statement released by Dr. Ehiogie West-Idahosa, SAN, on behalf of the senator’s legal team, it was disclosed that the charges were filed on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
The charges relate to accusations that Senator Uduaghan made “imputations” intended to harm the public image of Senator Akpabio, who presides over Nigeria’s 10th Senate.
The legal team confirmed receipt of the court filings and announced they would prepare a full defense on behalf of Senator Uduaghan.
“We have received the charges upon authorization from our client and will present all factual and legal defenses during the trial,” Dr. West-Idahosa said.
He also appealed for public support, saying, “We count on the prayers and solidarity of all.”
