Breaking: Kidnapped New Wig, Sister Freed in Edo State

Date:

Newly called-to-bar lawyer Peace Onyesom Udoka and her sister Gift Onyesom have regained their freedom after being kidnapped while returning from their Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja.

According to activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the sisters were released near Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. Their release comes after intense pressure and appeals from their family, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and other stakeholders.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N40 million, later reduced to N20 million per person. However, the family reportedly only managed to raise N7 million, which was rejected by the abductors.

The sisters’ freedom coincides with Peace Onyesom Udoka’s birthday, adding a poignant touch to the development. Details of their release are still emerging, but their safe return has brought relief to their family and the legal community
