Alleged Assault: Portable Arraigned, Granted N2m Bail

Controversial singer Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola was on Thursday, February 19 arraigned at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.The 30-year-old was declared wanted for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).He had repeatedly ignored police invitations following the arrest and arraignment of nine of his protégés before an Abeokuta Magistrate Court.

Portable was arraigned on a five count charge.The charges include conspiracy, assault and restriction, armed with cutlasses and guns, conduct likely to cause harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His proteges – nine in number – were arraigned for similar charges on February 6.After pleading not guilty to the charges, his counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, urged the court to grant him bail.Ayodele assured the court that the suspect “is now remorseful and has learnt his lessons.”

Magistrate O L Oke granted N2m bail with one surety in the like sum.He adjourned the case till March 5 for trial.
