Corruption: Two Judicial Officers, Corps Member Nabbed

Date:

The Lagos State Judiciary reveals that it has handed two of its officials over to the police for alleged corruption.

The Head of Chambers, Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs. Judith Momodu, said in a statement on Wednesday that the unnamed court workers were arrested on Tuesday alongside a serving corps member.

According to Momodu, the arrested officials, who work in the court’s Litigation Registry, were allegedly in the habit of not issuing receipts for payment of services offered to court users.

Momodu described the arrest of the officials as the practical demonstration of the newly-inaugurated Chief of Justice of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke’s zero tolerance for corruption.

She said the arrest of the two officials and corps member came a day after a tout who had been impersonating court officials was arrested on Monday.

The statement read in part, “Yesterday, 28th November (we effected) the arrest of two officials and a youth corps member in the litigation registry for corrupt practices such as non-issuance of receipts for payment made by court users.

“A tout, who had been in the habit of parading himself as a Lagos State Judiciary staff member and defrauding court users, was also arrested yesterday (Tuesday).”
