Court Remands Ex-Rivers LG Boss for Alleged Cultism

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded a former caretaker chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Sunny Bekanwa, to the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.

Bekanwa was arraigned for alleged sponsorship of cultism.

The court also remanded one Barikui Deele Henry for alleged murder of Dr Lucky Keena, Dumsira  Deeyah, in Kpean community, Khana Local Government Area.

When the matter came up in court on Wednesday, the prosecuting lawyer, G. A. Amadi, asked the court to remand the defendants to the correctional centre since the part of the matter was pending before  justice IPC Igwe of the state High court.

The trial Magistrate, Chief Magistrate N .O Anugbum, after listening to the lawyers in the matter, ruled that the two defendants be remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre for public safety.

The case was adjourned to December 5, 2023.
